British authorities are enacting legislation that prohibits sanctioned Russian entrepreneurs from using the services of British companies for the maintenance of their aircraft and ships, according to a Downing Street press release.

"The United Kingdom today (March 30) adopted new legislation that prohibits maintenance on aircraft or ships belonging to specific sanctioned Russian oligarchs or their businesses," according to the document.

Thus, Downing Street said, these entrepreneurs will not be able to "benefit from the world's leading British maritime and aviation industry and their engineers."

According to the statement, Russian businessmen Oleg Tinkov and Evgeny Shvidler are immediately affected by these measures.

On March 24, the British sanctions lists for Russia included, in particular, businessman Tinkov and Roman Abramovich's business partner Shvidler.

Meanwhile, according to a press release, the new British legislation also provides for the extension of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" to the sanctions previously imposed on Crimea.

"The new legislation extends the finance, trade and shipping sanctions imposed on Crimea to territory not controlled by the Ukrainian government (in Donetsk and Luhansk," according to the statement.

Downing Street also said that since the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine, London has imposed sanctions on banks whose global asset value is estimated at GBP 500 billion. In addition, the sanctions affected more than GBP 150 billion of net worth of entrepreneurs and their families.
