Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is being kept in the Lukyanivsky detention centre, doesn't enjoy any privileges, and there is no threat to her life or health, the press service of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported.
"Tymoshenko is kept in Kyiv detention center without any privileges. She follows the daily routine in full," the press service said in a statement released on Monday.
The service said the detention center's leadership realizes their responsibility for the security of Tymoshenko and other public officials who are kept in custody and takes all of the necessary measures.
"At present there has been no information about a threat to the life or health of anyone of the inmates of Kyiv detention centre."
The jail's leadership and staff will comply with laws and regulations and ensure security of their prisoners, in particular of Tymoshenko, the service said.
As reported, Tymoshenko told the EUobserver Web site that she was afraid of being killed while she was in prison.
