The secretariat of Ukraine's third president (2005-2010), Viktor Yuschenko, received copies of gas contracts signed with Russia in 2009 from the foreign intelligence service, first deputy head of the secretariat Oleksandr Shlapak has said.
"After the Ukrainian delegation returned from Moscow with the signed contracts, the president requested the contracts, but was refused. Therefore, since we wanted to understand what was going on, we had to get them some other way. Then the foreign intelligence service provided these contracts," Shlapak told reporters outside Pechersky District Court, after being questioned in the gas case.
According to a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine, during questioning in court, Shlapak said that the president's secretariat was able to obtain a copy of the gas contracts a week after their signing.
