Regions Party faction leader Oleksandr Yefremov has said he believes that the live broadcasting of the trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko puts pressure on the participants in the judicial process, and the practice of live broadcasting from the courtroom does not exist in any developed country in the world.
"There is no such practice in other countries of a trial being broadcast live. And what is currently done in our state is wrong - in my own opinion, not as faction leader. You can see how trials are conducted in the United States or in any European country, and in many countries [media] presence is even prohibited. And this is due to the fact that there [should be] no pressure put on people. The court must establish the truth, and the truth is established not through shouting, quarreling, or other such things," he said live on Ukrainian television's Channel 5.
Yefremov said that the transparency of the judicial process should be ensured by representatives of the defense, by informing the public about the judicial process, as happens in other countries.
