European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule has said that an association agreement between Kyiv and Brussels will guarantee the continuation of reforms in Ukraine.
Speaking at a meeting of the Ukraine-EU parliamentary club in Strasbourg, Fule said that both the members of the European Parliament and members of the Verkhovna Rada share responsibility for ratifying the new agreement and need to persuade their voters that the agreement makes sense for both sides.
"This is a process that needs to begin now, but it is for you to prepare the arguments according to your own political vision," he said.
In this connection, he identified three key aspects of the agreement: "Firstly, that it will anchor Ukraine to a solid program of reforms built around EU [law]; secondly that it will create new opportunities for economic development and investment, and thirdly that it will help to meet some of the most important shared aspirations of Ukrainian citizens in areas such as mobility and the modernisation of public services," Fule said.
