Pechersky District Court in Kyiv has ruled to expel Ukraine's former prime minister and leader of the Batkivschyna party Yulia Tymoshenko from the courtroom where her trial is being held, for a period of one day
"Due to the fact that the defendant violates order in the courtroom, and despite repeated reminders and warnings, and based on the articles of the Criminal Procedure Code, the court has ruled to remove the defendant from the courtroom for one court sitting," Judge Rodion Kireyev said.
Prior to this, the police entered the courtroom to execute another of Kireyev's rulings and remove MP Yevhen Suslov from the court, and to prevent possible incidents. After this, other MPs were forced out of the courtroom by the police.
According to journalists, Ukraine's Deputy Interior Minister Viktor Ratushniak gave the orders to the law enforcement officers in the court.
"You are inhuman. You have set the police on unarmed people," Tymoshenko told Kireyev after this.
The judge suggested that Tymoshenko leave the courtroom.
The prosecutor backed this proposal, noting that there was every reason to remove Tymoshenko from the courtroom.
"The defendant made direct insults to the presiding judge in court," Kireyev said noting that with her remarks Tymoshenko insulted not only him and the court, but the entire judicial system of Ukraine.
After that, Tymoshenko was lead from the courtroom by the police.
