Ukroboronprom to scrap ammo worth EUR 30 m under Partnership for Peace program

State-run companies that are part of the Ukroboronprom Concern will destroy ammunition and weapons worth EUR 30 million under the Partnership for Peace program.

The ammunition will be scrapped in the execution of an agreement between Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers and the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA).

The government's resolution No 533-r ordering the signing of this agreement dated May 16 was posted on the Ukrainian parliament's Web site on Friday.

According to the agreement, 76,000 tons of ammunition, 366,000 units of light weapons and small arms and three million antipersonnel blast mines are to be destroyed during the second stage of the implementation of the Partnership for Peace program.

At the same time, in 2011-2012, they are planning to scrap 10,500 tons of ammunition and three million antipersonnel blast mines, which will allow speeding up Ukraine's execution of its international obligations under the Ottawa Treaty, Ukroboronprom reported.
