Kliuyev, Sikorski discuss possible export of Ukrainian electricity to Poland
Ukraine wants to expand cooperation with Poland in the energy sector, Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Development and Trade Minister Andriy Kliuyev said at a meeting with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski on Thursday.
Kliuyev said that Ukraine wanted to increase its own production of hydrocarbons as much as possible, his press service reported.
The sides also discussed possible cooperation in the sphere of shale gas production. Kliuyev said that Ukraine wanted large investors, including those from the European Union, to participate in the exploration and production of energy resources.
He also noted that the production of oil and gas, shale gas and methane was a priority for the Ukrainian government. Kliuyev noted that Ukraine was trying to maximally increase the energy efficiency of its economy and develop renewable energy sources.
The sides also noted their mutual interest in cooperation in the field of energy and discussed the possibility of exporting Ukrainian electricity to Poland.
