Ukraine's foreign minister congratulates Hillary Clinton on her appointment as US secretary of state

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry hopes that Ukraine's strategic relations with the United States will continue developing and deepening following the U.S. Senate's appointment of Hillary Clinton as U.S. secretary of state.

The ministry's press service quoted Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko as saying this in a letter of congratulations on Thursday.

"The letter of congratulations, in particular, expresses confidence that Ukrainian-U.S. strategic relations, strengthened by the United States-Ukraine Charter on Strategic Partnership signed on December 19, 2008, will continue developing and deepening," the press service said.

Ohryzko said that Ukraine views the United States as "one of the main supporters of Ukraine's EuroAtlantic integration, which is an integral part of a democratic and prosperous future for our state."

He also invited his U.S. counterpart to make an official visit to Ukraine when convenient.
