Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko informed UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown about Ukriane's talks with Russia on resuming the transit of natural gas to European consumers and the gas supply to Ukraine, while speaking in a phone call.
The talk was initiated by Brown, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported on Monday.
Voicing hope that the transit would start soon, Yuschenko and Brown agreed on the importance of such a step for bolstering trust in Ukraine as a transit country and establishing transparent rules of cooperation on the energy market.
Yuschenko and Brown agreed to support a constant dialogue on this issue.
