Ukrainian MP forecasts average gas price for Ukraine at $250 per 1,000 cubic meters this year

The head of the Ukrainian parliamentary committee for national security and defense, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, forecasts that the average price of Russian gas for Ukraine this year will be around $250 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Hrytsenko was speaking on Radio Era on Monday.

"Of course we will be able to speak about a concrete price only when we see the contract. I think the average yearly price will be $250 per 1,000 cubic meters or even lower. It is derived from Russia's promise that the gas price for Ukraine will be 20% less than an average European one, as well as Russian President Medvedev's statement that the gas price will fall by 2 - 2.5 times," the MP said.

Hrytsenko assessed the visit of the Ukrainian government's delegation to Moscow as successful on the whole. Among its positive results, the MP named the removal of the mediator in gas supplies to Ukraine and its transit to Europe.
