All crewmembers of the Faina, a Ukrainian ship seized by Somali pirates, are in good health, according to a posting on the Web site Maritime Bulletin-Sovfracht, which quoted the ship's owner.
"The ship owner declares, in response to reports in the world media, in particular in Russian and Ukrainian ones, that seven crewmembers were ill, that he urgently got in contact with the ship personally and asked the U.S. Navy ship blocking the vessel to [investigate]. Talks were conducted both with the pirates and Acting Captain Nikolsky," as to the report.
It was established that the health status of the crewmembers is good, and nobody is ill, the ship owner said.
"This was confirmed both by the pirates and by the crewmembers themselves," he said.
