Kyva: UTOS and UTOG representatives became advisers to the head of the socialist party

Representative of Ukrainian Society of the Deaf (UTOG) of Kherson region Olha Taran and Chairman of the trade union of Kherson Ukrainian Association of the Blind (UTOS) Vladyslav Obertailo have been appointed advisers to the head of the Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU), SPU Leader Illia Kyva said, the press service of the SPU has reported on its official website.

"There are more than 40,000 people with hearing and visual impairments in Ukraine. Their rights are not represented either in politics or in life. Therefore, we have decided to introduce these people into the party's council," he said at a press conference devoted to the protection of the social rights of hearing and sight impaired people.

He also said that similar decisions will be made in regional organizations.

This decision, in his opinion, will allow becoming fully acquainted with the problems and provide the required assistance and support to those in need.

"Your presence in the party will help us sighted to see the light and understand the world in which you live. We must build a system of relations and you will become our guides," he said, addressing the newly appointed advisers.

Kyva said that earlier representatives of Kherson UTOS and UTOG applied to him for help, in particular on behalf of the hearing impaired workers of the garment factory in Kherson region.

"They work six or seven days a week for 10-12 hours, but at the same time they receive minimum wages - about UAH 800. Their rights are not represented either in politics or in life. Moreover, they cannot do their civic duty and take part in elections. Their life resembles a ghetto," the head of SPU said.

According to the representative of UTOG, the management of the organization enjoys their official position and deals with corruption schemes, as a result of which the rights of persons with disabilities are violated, and the enterprise is being destroyed.

In this regard, the head of the SPU decided to apply to the National Police with an official statement to conduct a thorough check to identify and prevent possible violations of the law.
