The Regions Party does not exclude the possibility of there being political confrontations after the local elections, Deputy Leader of the Regions Party Oleksandr Yefremov has said.
"Considering that 151 political forces are participating in the elections, and, according to the polls, only a few of them might win, it is obvious that absolute majority of the participating parties [will lose at] the elections… [and so] we expect that confrontations will take place," he said at a press conference at the central election office of the Regions Party in Kyiv on Sunday.
Yefremov also stressed that the way the elections were organized this year makes systematic violations impossible.
"The voting is proceeding smoothly," Yefremov said.
"The elections are being held properly, in a good working atmosphere and, I hope, at the end of the day we will be proud of the course of the elections. We took a step forward to democracy," he said.
