Ukraine's Foreign Ministry is working to achieve the release of Ukrainian sailors that were captured by Somali pirates on October 23.
The pirates seized the Singapore-flagged York 90 miles off Mombassa (Kenya) on October 23, the ministry's press service told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.
According to the Interunity Management Corporation SA (Greece), the ship crewconsists of 17 members, including a German (captain), two Ukrainians and 14 Filipinos.
The vessel was carrying liquefied petroleum gas from Mombassa to the Seychelles.
At present, the York is controlled by the pirates and sailing to the coastline of Somali. There is no communication with the vessel.
Relatives of the Ukrainian sailors have been informed about the incident, the Foreign Ministry said.
