The debt of the Ukrainian public for housing and utilities services in January 2017 grew by 26% compared to December 2016 and amounted to UAH 25.422 billion, the State Statistics Service has said.
The service said that the indicator does not include the public debt owed for housing and utilities services in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol and part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. Data on Donetsk and Luhansk regions could be specified.
According to the report, in January 2017 Ukrainians paid UAH 9.17 billion, or 62.6% of the sum for housing and utilities services.
The highest level of payment in January 2017 was recorded in Khmelnytsky (81.6%, taking into account debt repayments for the previous periods) and Rivne regions (73.7%), as well as in Kyiv city (80%), while the lowest one in Luhansk (39%), Zakarpattia (43.1%), and Ternopil regions (45%).
The average charge for housing and utilities services per capita in Ukraine, taking into account energy consumption (150 kilowatt-hours), in January 2017 increased by UAH 251 compared to December, to UAH 1,808.
According to the State Statistics Service, in January 2017 some 3,300 contracts on repayment of restructured debts worth a total of UAH 21.9 million were signed with the public.
