Hillary Clinton to visit Ukraine on July 4-5, says Foreign Ministry

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will pay an official visit to Kyiv on July 4-5, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's information policy department has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today held a phone conversation, during which she confirmed her intention to make an official visit to Ukraine on July 4-5," the ministry said.

During the visit, Clinton is scheduled to meet with President Viktor Yanukovych, and hold talks with Hryschenko and other senior Ukrainian officials.

During their conversation, Hryschenko and Clinton said they were interested in the development of relations between Ukraine and the United States on the basis of a strategic partnership.

Independence Day is marked in the United States on July 4.
