MPs of Tymoshenko's Bloc ignore Yanukovych's address
Members of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko parliamentary faction didn't attend Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's first annual state of the nation address at the Ukraina Palace in Kyiv on Thursday.
One of the BYT Leaders Oleksandr Turchynov said on air of the Channel 5 on Thursday evening.
"Our MPs simply ignored this event and didn't attend Yanukovych's address," he said.
According to the current legislation, such an address should take place in the parliament, the MP said. "We cannot understand why this address was delivered in a concert hall. It could just as well take place in a circus," Turchynov said.
However, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Hanna Herman told Channel 5 on Thursday evening that Ukraine's legislation stipulates that president's address to parliamentarians is usually taking place in the Verkhovna Rada, whereas this was an address to the Ukrainian nation.
