Russian occupation forces conducted 56 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in the past 24 hours, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue abiding by the Minsk peace agreements, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
Thirty-seven violations of the truce were observed in the Donetsk sector, the press center said, adding that Donbas militants fired grenade launchers, machine-guns and small arms on Ukrainian army positions in the villages of Novoselivka Druha, Verkhniotoretske, Zaitzeve, Novhorodske, and Luhanske, and the town of Avdiyivka.
In addition, the militants fired 120mm and 82mm mortars on Luhanske, Zaitseve, the village of Pisky (closed to the demolished Donetsk airport), Butovka mine and the town of Svitlodarsk in the Donetsk sector, the report said.
Fourteen instances of the violation of the truce were recorded in the Mariupol sector, it said.
"The Russian occupation forces resorted to armed provocations and used an infantry fighting vehicle and grenade launchers to shell the village of Shyrokyne (near the Ukrainian-controlled strategic port city of Mariupol). The villages of Pavlopil, Novotroyitske, Shyrokyne and Starohnativka came under fire from grenade launchers and small arms. Further, at about 23:00 local time, the occupiers opened fire from a 120mm mortar on the villages of Lebedynske and Berdianske. The town of Maryinka was under sniper fire," the ATO HQ said.
Five attacks on Ukrainian army positions were conducted in the Luhansk sector. Grenade launchers, machine-guns and small arms were used near the villages of Novozvanivka and Novo-Oleksandrivka, it said. Novozvanivka was also attacked with the use of an infantry fighting vehicle. Enemy snipers were also working there.
