ATO press center: Donbas militants use banned antipersonnel mines near Avdiyivka

Donbas militants use banned POM-2 antipersonnel mines near the industrial areas of the town of Avdiyivka in Donetsk region, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) headquarters has said.

"Militants use POM-2 antipersonnel mines, which are banned by the Geneva Convention, against Ukraine's ATO forces in Avdiyivka's industrial areas," the ATO HQ wrote on Facebook.

This is the only locality where militants use the banned anti-personnel mines in Donbas at the moment, according to the Ukrainian defense intelligence unit.

The ATO HQ has warned against casualties among local residents who face mortal danger, as POM-2 antipersonnel mines are self-liquidating, exploding automatically (from 4 to 50 hours) after being set.
