Ukraine not facing default at present, says presidential administration official

First deputy head of Ukraine's presidential administration Iryna Akimova said that Ukraine is not currently facing default.

"We are not facing domestic and external default today," she said on the Inter TV channel on Friday evening.

She noted that the experts could not help but get alarmed at tripling of the public debt over a year.

At the same time, Akimova noted that representatives of various political forces have been speaking recently about the possibility of default only due to the fact that internal and external debts are rapidly growing thus affecting the economic situation.

"The debt has nearly tripled so far. If this process continues, the country will be on the brink of default," she said.
