Ukrainian ministers have been invited to the inauguration of Ukrainian President-Elect Viktor Yanukovych on February 25.
Some have said that their participation in the event was their duty.
In particular, Family, Youth and Sports Minister Yuriy Pavlenko has already received an invitation.
"I've got an invitation from the parliament to take part in the inauguration. I see no problem in attending the event. The legitimacy [of the newly elected president] was confirmed by the Central Election Commission and the courts... I think that other ministers from the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc will also participate in the inauguration," he told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.
Culture Minister Vasyl Vovkun said he had also received an invitation.
"I have already decided that tomorrow I'm just obliged to attend the inauguration," he said.
Health Minister Vasyl Kniazevych said that participation in ceremonial events was the same direct duty of government members, "as going to work."
Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan, in turn, said: "If [current Prime Minister] Yulia Volodymyrivna Tymoshenko attends the inauguration, then I'll come too. If not, then I won't. That's my personal decision."
At the same time, First Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk and acting Finance Minister Ihor Umansky said that they had not yet received invitations to the presidential inauguration.
Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Petro Krupko said that the question of attending inaugural events had not been discussed at a government meeting on Wednesday. "This issue was not raised, and every [minister] will address this issue themselves," he told reporters on Wednesday.
"I know that all government members received invitations, and everybody will independently decide on his or her presence at tomorrow's event," Krupko said.
