Viktor Yanukovych, the Ukrainian president elect, believes that Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko may resign.
"Tymoshenko has realized that she has no prospects of working as prime minister. Therefore I think she will take the step [resign] herself," he said on 1+1 channel on Sunday evening.
He said that now it no longer matters how the prime minister is going to step down - of her own accord or in line with a Verkhovna Rada resolution.
"This [the resignation] will happen very soon," he said.
Asked what his first steps as president would be, Yanukovych said he would start fulfilling all his promises. The new coalition and government will serve as his instruments.
"And then go ahead step by step. People will soon feel that effective authorities are beginning to function in the country," Yanukovych said.
