Poroshenko signs law on free text books for pupils and teachers

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has signed law No. 940-VIII amending certain Ukraine's laws on education to provide text books for pupils and teachers free of charge.

"The law will improve the organization of the educational process; ensure social protection of school-age students, their parents, and teachers; as well as create appropriate conditions for high-quality secondary education," the presidential press service reported on Friday.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the respective bill on January 26.
