Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has reaffirmed Kyiv's adherence to the peace process in Donbas, however he said that Ukraine was expecting an offensive from the enemy and was preparing to rebuff it.
Poroshenko told BBC that he was the president of peace and was doing his best to preserve it, which was why he visited Minsk and held very complicated negotiations, which lasted 18 hours without pauses on February 12, 2015. He was asked whether he was going to regain control of Ukrainian lands in a military way.
Two rounds of Minsk negotiations were held in September of last year, Poroshenko said, adding that Ukraine had signed the Minsk documents, was prepared to honor every commitment and was demanding that Russia do the same.
Warring countries cannot have trust-based relations, Poroshenko said, noting that he was doing everything in his power.
