President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has called on the National Reforms Council to promptly go through all procedures necessary to accede to the Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA).
"We must as soon as possible, by the end of this year, to go through the procedures to accede to the GPA and join 43 countries, which have already worked on it. This would be our signal that Ukraine has already made definite anti-corruption steps," the presidential press service quotes him as saying.
The head of state also stressed that one shouldn't reinvent the wheel when reforming a system of state procurements, since there are already directives of the European Union, Agreement on Association with the EU, the World Bank's instructions; there are principles and rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and anti-corruption standards.
