Ukraine will take important steps in health care reform soon - Poroshenko

In coming months Ukraine will take important steps in reforming the health care system, in particular, the procurement of medicines will be delegated to international organizations and some exported medicines won't be certified, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

"Critical parameters of the procurement of medicines must be carried out not by corrupted officials from the past, but via international organizations and for prices these international organizations pay to buy [the medicines] for themselves," Poroshenko said in an interview with First National Channel on Monday.

In addition, he said that he had given orders related to the formation of prices for medicines produced abroad. "Why should we add 30-40% extra charges and conduct additional certification? Make it cheaper and give Ukrainians the right to a transparent access to [the way] the price [is formed]," Poroshenko said and added that Ukraine should scrap the registration of medicines certified in the U.S., EU and G7 countries.
