Poroshenko to present vision for Ukrainian future in Davos
The situation in Ukraine will be discussed at the World Economic Forum in Davos amongst other issues, a source in the Ukrainian presidential administration said.
"There will be three main areas: security, reforms and economics," deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration Dmytro Shymkiv said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
A Ukrainian delegation led by President Petro Poroshenko has departed for Davos where 40 world leaders, among them French President Francois Hollande and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, are due to make their appearance.
Speaking of Ukraine issues, Shymkiv said the president would present the "future of Ukraine" at a main session of the forum. The forum will also have two special sessions dedicated to reforms and economic implications from the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian National Bank chairman and economy minister would participate in those events to discuss the drawing of additional funds for the Ukrainian economy both via investment and financial aid.
There will be a "Ukrainian breakfast" traditionally organized by businessman Viktor Pinchuk.
Ukrainian and Russian businessmen will meet on the World Economic Forum sidelines to discuss interaction under new circumstances, the deputy head of the presidential administration continue. "The dialogue initiated by the World Economic Forum will be held in the format of a discussion on what we should do next," he said.
Davos, Switzerland, will play host to a meeting of the World Economic Forum on January 21-24.
According to the forum's official program, there will be a special session, The Future of Ukraine, on Wednesday, January 21, and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is planned to attend.
