President signs laws simplifying imports of defense products
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed laws introducing amendments to Ukraine's customs and tax codes on the simplification of imports of defense products, according to the Web site of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
As reported, in early September 2014, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the laws on amendments to the tax and customs codes on the simplification of imports of defense products, thus simplifying imports of defense goods.
Deputy Defense Minister Petro Mekhed said that the amendments proposed by the government would allow importing defense products to Ukraine cutting expenses on this.
According to the amendments, codes of groups of defense products that are exempted from customs duties will be listed in the Customs Code, and the duties will be canceled not for a certain period of time (the special period, emergency situation, counterterrorist operation), but in full. The amendments foresee codes of groups of defense goods that are exempted from value added tax (VAT). Imported defense goods and Ukrainian-made goods are exempted from VAT.
