Place of militants in Luhansk region taken by Russian army units - NSDC
The fighting near Luhansk and Ilovaisk continues, and the place of militants in Luhansk region has been taken by the Russian army, reads a report by the information and analytical center of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) posted on the National Guard's Web site.
"Active position battles continue on the outskirts of Luhansk, near Novosvitlivka and Khriaschuvate, Donetsk and Ilovaisk, Maryinka, Starobesheve and Olenivka in Volnovakha district, Donetsk region. During the last week in the towns of Luhansk region, controlled by Russian mercenaries (Luhansk, Krasnodon, Antratsyt), units of local 'militiamen' and Cossacks, unable to resist the ATO forces, as well as involved in looting and banditry, were replaced by regular units of the Russian army," reads the statement.
The document notes that reinforcements for terrorists arrived in the settlements of Perevalsk, Zorinsk, Maloivanivka, Mala Faschivka, Verhuliyivka and Rozsypne and these towns are being prepared for a long-term defense.
"The shelling of Debaltseve with mortars mounted on vehicles continues. Terrorists and Russian troops are forming a powerful group for an offensive in the direction of Shakhtarsk-Ilovaisk," reads the report.
Russian doctors arrived at Krasnodon Central Town Hospital, and then many militants killed and wounded were brought to the medical institution.
"The presence of doctors from the neighboring state on the territory controlled by terrorists is more evidence of the participation of the regular Russian military in the fighting," reads the report.
