The number of banks with temporary administration is to grow, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Volodymyr Stelmakh has said at a press conference in Kyiv.
"It does not mean that the situation in the banking sector will worsen if the number of banks with temporary administration grows," he said.
The grounds for introducing temporary administration on the legislative level have been changed: this step can be taken not only in the case when a bank's financial condition worsens, but as a preventive measure as well, Stelmakh said.
As reported, temporary administration is introduced in 16 of 184 operating Ukrainian banks. According to the Cabinet of Ministers, another 13 small banks are in a complicated situation.
