The anti-terrorist center under the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is holding anti-terrorist exercises at the infrastructure facilities intended for hosting the Euro 2012 Championship taking into account the experience of the EU and NATO states.
SBU Chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko said this at a meeting with the UEFA delegation, representatives of the Euro 2012 Ukraine organizing committee, the SBU press center said.
The anti-terrorist center under the Security Service of Ukraine is holding anti-terrorist drills at sport and other facilities (stadiums, hotels, transport, fan zones etc.) in the cities, which are expected to host the Euro 2012 finals, Nalyvaichenko said.
He also said that the SBU is studying the experience of special services and law-enforcement agencies of the world's leading nations in terms of holding mass events. In particular, the SBU is studying the provision of physical security of citizens, the process of receiving, assessing and the analysis of information on possible terrorist threats, and introduction of new security standards at airports.
"While preparing for the tournament we should form a new concept of relations between citizens and law-enforcement agencies, aimed at providing for security not by means of punitive measures, but through cooperation, assistance and mutual trust," the SBU chief said.
