The government has been pursuing the policy of populism and the National Bank of Ukraine is not expecting the Cabinet of Ministers' support in tackling the crisis in the country, first deputy governor of the NBU Anatoliy Shapovalov has said.
"We do not expect anything from the government anymore, because there is nothing except for the populism," he said in an interview on the Inter TV channel on Friday night.
According to him, the frequent changes of government lately stimulated barely the growth of consumption without the due support to the economic dynamics.
"We all want make ourselves agreeable to the voters, when we get to the government or elsewhere, instead of carrying out unpopular reforms," Shapovalov told members of government and political leaders present in the television studio.
Besides, the NBU first deputy governor noted the insufficient participation of the parliament in solving the existing economic tasks.
On the whole, the excessive pressure on the National Bank complicates the solution of difficult tasks in the financial sector, he said.
