An International Monetary Fund mission led by Ceyla Pazarbasioglu will start work in Ukraine on December 1, a source in the government told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to the source, the mission's agenda includes the discussion of the fulfillment of a memorandum between the IMF and Ukraine, and the anti-crisis measures taken by the Ukrainian authorities, as well as the development of the situation in the Ukrainian economy and the financial sector in particular.
As was reported, after Ukraine passed an anti-crisis law and the Ukrainian president, the premier, the Central Bank's governor and the finance minister signed a memorandum with the IMF, the latter decided to provide Ukraine with a stand-by stabilization loan worth SDR11 billion ($16.5 billion), of which the Central Bank has already received SDR 2 billion.
The IMF mission is supposed to quarterly check how Ukraine meets the provisions of the memorandum. If they are observed, the next tranches will come on February 15, 2009 (SDR 1.25 billion), May 15, 2009 (SDR 2.5 billion), August 15, 2009 (SDR750 million) and November 15, 2009 (SDR 2 billion).
During the third revision of the program, the sides will determine the quantitative and structural criteria for 2010 under which the IMF will allocate funds in 2010.
