Rada supports sending to Constitutional Court president's bill on amendments to Constitution dealing with independence of judges

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has voted to send to the Constitutional Court the amendments to the Constitution proposed by President Viktor Yanukovych that deal with strengthening the guarantees of the independence of judges.

A total of 377 out of the 406 lawmakers registered in the session hall at a meeting on Thursday voted to send the bill to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

This document is among the package of laws that need to be adopted to enable the signing of the Ukraine's Association Agreement with the European Union.
