No surgery has been scheduled for former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko at the Charite Clinic in Berlin, despite the fact that German doctors recommend the ex-premier undergo an operation, the press service of the Batkivschyna Party has said in a statement that rejects recent reports circulated by the media saying that Tymoshenko is likely to undergo surgery in mid-September.
"No surgery was scheduled for Yulia Tymoshenko for September 15 or any other date, and Charite's official spokesman stated this yesterday. At the same time, the German doctors have said numerous times that such an operation is needed from a medical viewpoint. Yulia Volodymyrivna [Tymoshenko] has never received from the Ukrainian government any proposals regarding her treatment in Germany, thus she cannot accept or reject such treatment," reads the statement.
At the same time, the party noted that no new laws need to be passed for treatment of convicts abroad.
Earlier, Deutsche Welle reported, referring to its sources, that Charite was preparing a ward for Tymoshenko.
In turn, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara said that Kyiv and Berlin were not negotiating over Tymoshenko's treatment in Germany.
