Some 400 Ukrainians remain in Syria, 26 evacuated to Lebanon on Tuesday, says Foreign Ministry

Twenty-six citizens of Ukraine and four citizens of Syria were evacuated on Tuesday from Syria to Lebanon, from where they will be transported to Ukraine, the director of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's information policy department, Yevhen Perebyinis, has said.

"Today, with the assistance of our embassy in Syria, 26 citizens of Ukraine and four citizens of Syria have been brought to Lebanon. The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine paid for their accommodation in a hotel, and in the coming days the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry plans to evacuate these people to Ukraine," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to Perebyinis, some 400 citizens of Ukraine currently remain in Syria, most living in Damascus. He again said that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recommends Ukrainians not to travel to Syria and Egypt.
