Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said he will insist that the 2013 national budget be amended to improve the provision of medical aid and social protections for children from poor families.
"We expect that parliament will pass a law on health care institutions, which will increase the quality and affordability of medical aid no later than December 2013. I ask you to amend the national budget of 2013 and foresee funds to pay bonuses to emergency first aid doctors. The right to such bonuses is foreseen under Ukrainian law from October 1, 2013," the head of state said, speaking in parliament after the grand opening of the third session on Tuesday.
Yanukovych also noted that this year new social initiatives for the support of children were declared. The president said that since early 2013 around 20,000 more children have been able to go to kindergartens.
"State social aid to poor families with children is not sufficient today. I ask you to urgently pass amendments to the national budget of 2013 and increase the so-called guaranteed minimum [provisions] for children from poor families," Yanukovych said.
