Formation of shopping and service complexes starts in Sevastopol on basis of markets

The active formation of shopping and service complexes has been started in Sevastopol on the basis of markets, which will allow improving the state of shopping on markets in the city.

“Today 29 markets are functioning in Sevastopol, including three markets in rural areas and on “Rechovy” market (clothes’ market), and the said trends will be supported, as sales on market should become civilized in the city,” Serhiy Savenkov, first deputy head of Sevastopol City Administration, has said in the Sevastopol television and radio company.

He said that the development of the market system has already given fruits.

“Over UAH 2.92 million in taxes and duties were received in the first quarter of 2013 from retailer on markets and fairs, which is 108% of the indicator of the first quarter of 2012,” Savenkov said.

He said that the development of the market system in the city promoted the increase in the public’s employment, so today the unemployment level in Sevastopol is the lowest after Kyiv in Ukraine.

He said that the share of sales on organized and informal markets of total retail turnover in the city came to 25%, or almost UAH 350 million, in the first quarter of 2013, which is 2.5 times up year-over-year.

He said that it is important that around 5% of market stands were given directly to farmers and citizens entitled with benefits: 270 stands for producers and 318 for citizens entitled with benefits.
