Ships of the Black Sea Naval Force (BlackSeaFor) have sailed out of Bulgaria's Varna Port and are now heading to a district for maneuvers, Russian Black Sea Fleet spokesman Captain Vyacheslav Trukhachyov told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
"After leaving Varna, the ships held exercises that centered on monitoring commercial vessels' movement. The ships of the international force were equipped with the FORESK unified computer-based communication system, which helps coordinate the ships. The international squadron's staff, which includes navy representatives from all the Black Sea coastal states, is working on board the corvette Heybeliada," Trukhachyov said.
The maneuvers will continue for the next three days, after which the BlackSeaFor ships are expected to enter Constanta Port on April 12.
The BlackSeaFor task force includes the Bulgarian Corvette 13 BGS Reshitelni, the patrol motorboat Sukhumi of Georgia's coastguard, the Russian large assault ship Novocherkassk, the Romanian corvette Macellariu, the Turkish corvette Heybeliada, and the Ukrainian sea trawler Cherkasy.
