The Batkivschyna, UDAR and Svoboda factions in parliament have said they are ready to support laws on Ukraine's European integration, including those that will be prepared and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by the Cabinet of Ministers.
This is stipulated in a statement by the leaders of the three factions, Arseniy Yatseniuk (Batkivschyna), Oleh Tiahnybok (Svoboda) and Vitali Klitschko (UDAR), which was posted on the Web site of the Batkivschyna Party on Saturday.
"We supported and will support all EU integration laws that were properly prepared and considered, in accordance with the parliamentary procedure, including those submitted by the government, as it was, for example, during the ratification of amendments to the visa facilitation agreement," reads the statement.
However, the leaders of the factions said that the opposition has its own package of bills if the authorities fail to prepare draft laws aimed at bringing Ukraine closer to the EU.
"We urge the European Union not to make Ukrainians hostages to a criminal anti-national policy of the current government, and we call on all those on whom it depends to do everything they can to ensure the timely and full implementation of the criteria needed for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, particularly those that concern the release of political prisoners Yulia Tymoshenko, Yuriy Lutsenko and others," reads the statement.
"We are convinced of the need to introduce personal sanctions against senior officials who are responsible for political repression in Ukraine and systematic violations of human rights," the opposition said.
