Ukraine's deputy prime minister for integration with Europe, Hryhoriy Nemyria, has called on the European Union to elaborate on its measures aimed at helping the Ukrainian authorities solve the country's financial and economic crisis.
"Does the [EU's] Eastern Partnership program say whether or not the Eastern Partnership policy has instruments that could be used by Ukraine to successfully counter the crisis? My answer today is no, it does not. Today's version of the Eastern Partnership policy does not offer an answer to this question," Nemyria said during a Ukrainian-French roundtable in Kyiv on Friday.
The EU's anti-crisis assistance is based on the IMF (International Monetary Fund) plus EU formula, the Ukrainian official said.
Today, this formula represents the EU's political will, and it offers effective instruments to counter the crisis in countries such as Latvia, Hungary and other EU states, he said.
"But, so far, the formula that has been applied to Ukraine means the IMF plus a question mark. We very much hope that the next discussions will clarify answers to the aforementioned questions [anti-crisis measures]," Nemyria said.
