Lviv mayor satisfied with city's Euro 2012 preparations

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy has said he is satisfied with the way the city is preparing for the finals of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

"I'm fully satisfied with the work being currently carried out in Lviv and with how the city is preparing for an event of the significance of Euro 2012," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Sadovy said that work on the construction of a Euro 2012 stadium had already started in the city. He said that the Ukrainian Economy Ministry allowed Lviv on November 7 to sign an agreement with Azovintex Design and Construction Enterprise, giving it the right to be the only executor of the construction of the stadium.

Sadovy said that the work is currently estimated to be worth UAH 609 million, and it is to be completed by late December 2010. The stadium will seat 33,000 people, he said.

"I'm fully satisfied with the work being currently conducted by Azovintex, as well as the talks and the design work that has been carried out by Alpine Company," he said.
