Patient care institutions of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine should be the best in Ukraine and they should operate using international standards, Ukrainian Defense Minister Pavlo Lebedev has said.
“I personally gave an order and appointed a working group to draw up an absolutely new concept of developing and reforming the medical backup system, which should envisage the guaranteed quality and volumes of medical aid provided not only to military men, but also to pensioners, veterans and other categories who have the right to be treated free of charge,” Lebedev said.
The press service of the Defense Ministry reported that on Friday at a meeting with the staff of the military medical clinic center of the central region in Vinnytsia Lebedev also said that 1.1 million people are staying in patient care centers of the military and medical department of the Defense Ministry, including 140,000 military men, 400,000 pensioners, 350,000 members of their families and other categories of citizens.
“One of the top-priority tasks military medicine faces is the introduction of modern technologies so that patient care institutions of the Defense Ministry were the best in Ukraine and used international standards,” he said.
Lebedev also reminded that military medicine, military medical centers are the best patient care institutions in the regions. During the hosting of the final matches of Euro 2012 European football championship military medical institutions were selected to treat football fans.
