The Central Election Commission is studying the rulings of the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine (HACU) regarding the annulment of the mandates of Serhiy Vlasenko and Andriy Verevsky, CEC Deputy Chairman Andriy Mahera has said.
"[The CEC] received the rulings of the Higher Administrative Court regarding Vlasenko and Verevsky," he told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"We're currently studying these rulings, and we'll develop a certain vision in this connection," Mahera said.
When asked whether the CEC's actions are linked to the official announcement in the Verkhovna Rada of the court's rulings, Mahera said. "No."
When asked whether any processes started in the CEC regarding the registration of new MPs instead of the lawmakers who were stripped of their parliamentary powers, he said: "It will depend on the chairman of the commission, if he convenes a respective session."
As reported, on March 5, the HACU stripped Party of Regions MP Andriy Verevsky of his parliamentary powers, and on March 6, a similar decision was taken with respect to Vlasenko, a defense counsel for former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
