Ukraine's GDP may fall 20%-23% in Q1, says Yuschenko

Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has said that that the fall of Ukraine's GPP in the first quarter of this year may reach 20%.

"GDP fell 14% in the fourth quarter [of 2008]. In the first quarter a 20% fall is expected," the president said at the "Power and Business are Partners" forum, which is taking place in Kyiv on Monday.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine's estimates, the key sector index in the first quarter will be minus 29.9, Yuschenko said.

The president added that the GDP's decline might even reach 23%. "In the first quarter it may be 20%-23%," he said.
