A coach carrying religious pilgrims crashed in Lviv at about 0700 on Sunday, killing seven people.
"Seven people were killed and sixteen hospitalized," a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ihor Krol told Interfax-Ukraine.
A Renault truck rode into the path of a Bohdan bus carrying religious pilgrims on a belt highway near Lviv, the spokesman said.
According to the preliminary data, the bus was carrying 24 people, who were heading from the Stare village, Pustomytiv dis6trict, to the Krekhiv Monastery.
According to the Emergencies Ministry, the coach driver was not hurt, nor alcohol found in his blood. At the same time, the Renault driver was hospitalized. His truck is registered in Turkey.
The press secretary for the Lviv regional traffic police Svitlana Dobrovolskaya told the 5th Channel: "Immediate reports indicate the truck driver fell asleep at the wheel. The truck veered into the oncoming lane and crashed into the coach."
