Azarov: Meeting with Fule proves Ukraine's dynamic movement towards signing of Association Agreement with EU

The recent meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule was open and constructive, although the EU commissioner made some critical statements regarding Ukraine, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

"We held very constructive talks with EU Commissioner Fule. We openly exchanged our opinions and this proved that we are confidently and dynamically moving towards the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union," the head of the Ukrainian government wrote on Facebook on Friday.

The premier noted that Fule expressed some criticism to the Ukrainian side, but his criticism was constructive and one should not consider it as one side lecturing the other about its actions.

"In turn, we offered our remarks about the European Commission. It was a normal dialogue of two sides," Azarov said.

As to Ukraine's cooperation with the Customs Union, the premier noted that the EU commissioner is a realist and "he perfectly understands that Ukraine needs to cooperate with the Customs Union, while forms of this cooperation is Ukraine's sovereign right, and only we can decide on them."

As reported, Fule visited Ukraine on February 7-8.
