The Tajik Prosecutor General's Office expects Ukraine to provide official information on the court ruling ordering the arrest of Tajikistan's former prime minister Abdumalik Abdulladzhanov to begin the process of extradition to his homeland, a source in the Prosecutor General's Office told Interfax.
The source said Abdulladzhanov, who is charged with six counts of crime, is facing life in prison if convicted of the charges.
"We are satisfied by Abdumalik Abdulladzhanov's arrest for forty days and we now expect an official document confirming that decision," a source in the Prosecutor General's Office, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
"We can only provide official documents stating the charges against this person and the evidence of his guilt, which, believe me, is very convincing, after we receive this document,' the source said.
Abdulladzhanov, 64, who has lived in the U.S. for the past 15 years, was detained at Borispol international airport at the request of Tajik authorities.
