Kyiv is working on the organization of another visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to China, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara has said.
At a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday the minister noted that Ukraine's cooperation with China is developing rather actively, and that in particular the sides are considering the possibility of holding a second meeting of their intergovernmental commission. First Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov heads the Ukrainian part of the commission.
"Due to the fact that the leadership is changing in the country, in the near future China will select its candidate for the co-chairmanship for the commission and we will hold a second meeting. In addition, we are organizing another visit of the Ukrainian president to this country," the minister said.
Kozhara added that Ukraine is also interested in cooperation with other countries, particularly India.
The diplomat also said that the ministry intends to develop cooperation with countries of Southeastern Asia, the Pacific region, as well as Central and Latin America.
"During the year I as a foreign minister will visit these countries, many countries in the abovementioned regions, and I think we will see gradual positive development of Ukraine's relations with these countries," he said.
